Here are some easy ways to make money for Christmas:
1. Online Surveys & Points Sites: Sign up for online survey sites such as Swagbucks, InboxDollars, or InstaGC. These sites will pay you in gift cards or points that convert into gift cards, then you can use them to shop! Swagbucks is my favorite because it’s so fast to earn giftcards!
2. Sell Unwanted Items: Declutter your home and make money off of it! Sell your items at local consignment shops (especially great to for selling kids’ toys and clothes), bookstores, on eBay, Poshmark, ThredUP, Craigslist, or Facebook Marketplace.
Even if you think someone would never want a particular item, you might be surprised! This way you get more space in your house AND more money in your pocket!
3. Trade-In Items to Amazon: Did you know Amazon has a Trade-In program? Granted, you probably won’t get as much money for them if you sold them on your own on Ebay, but it depends on your situation.
If you might want to buy another Amazon device, the Amazon giftcard and discount they give you would be pretty good! See how it works here.

7. Tutoring or Teaching: If you’re knowledgeable in a particular subject or skill, offer tutoring services to students, or teach a workshop on your expertise. Many of these can be done online (like teaching English), or check with your local community center or library.
There are also online platforms like Outschool or Varsity Tutors. Think of workshops that would be more popular around the season you’re doing them in too to draw in the most people!
8. Pet Sitting or Dog Walking: So many people travel during the summer, spring break, and holidays, so there’s a big need for pet sitters. Offer your services as a pet sitter or dog walker for your neighbors, co-workers, or other friends to get started and build a clientele.
9. Babysitting or Mother’s Helper: Who couldn’t use a child-free date night, or afternoon out running errands? With parents attending holiday parties and events around holidays, they’ll definitely be a need for babysitters then too!
Babysitters are always in demand, and so are mother’s helpers. I know many moms who would really enjoy a shower in peace or some help with the laundry or dishes. To make yourself more marketable, get your CPR certification too.
10. Housesitting: This goes along with the pet sitters- people traveling pay great money for you to housesit while they’re gone! You can also add in watering plants or other smaller chores to your services to make more money.
11. Gift Wrapping at Christmas Time: You can either provide the wrapping and charge more, or people can provide their own wrapping- either way, you get the money!
12. Bake & Sell Treats: As people love to throw parties, they’re always looking for special event/holiday treats to bring. This especially is the case around holidays. Cookies, cupcakes, and cakes are always big sellers!
But don’t forget about making easy things like quick fudge, chocolate dipped items like Oreos, pretzels, potato chips, or other no-bake cookies, Rice Krispy treats, or other candy-type of items. Some local shops might also stock your items to sell!
13. Seasonal Retail Jobs: Lots of retailers hire seasonal workers during the holidays to handle the increased demand. Look for part-time or temporary positions at local stores, malls, or online even retailers. You’ll often get a good discount to shop there too, so you can save money on gifts at the same time!
14. Delivery Jobs: There are tons of shopping and delivery companies out there hiring everyday! If you want to pick up some money on the side, this article gives a great reviewover the top delivery apps to work for right now.
There’s also Walmart’s SparkDriver and UPS’s Roadie to check out!
15. Home Decorating: Help others decorate their homes for the seasons and holidays. You can charge for your time and decorating skills.
16. Home Organizing Help: You don’t have to be a professional organizer to help people clean out closets, prep for yard sales, sort through papers, or put away holiday decorations!
17. Holiday Event Staffing: Many holiday events and parties hire temporary staff for roles like servers, catering, bartending, event planning, or decorating.
18. Freelancing: If you have skills like writing, graphic design, web development, or social media management, offer your services as a freelancer on platforms like Upwork or Fiverr.
19. Cleaning, Doing Laundry or Other Household Jobs: If cleaning someone’s whole house doesn’t appeal to you, start out small, by offering laundry services, doing dishes, or vacuuming.
20. Sitting with the Elderly: Often, caregivers need a break and don’t take the time to give themselves one, so sitting with elderly family for them can provide a much-needed time to themselves.
21. Sewing or Alterations: I probably have at least 3 things in my closet that small, basic sewing jobs done on them right now, and I know I’m not alone! If you’re skilled at sewing or alterations, you could put your skills to use making some extra money!
Of course, these ideas can also help you make extra money at any time, not necessarily for Christmas. Pick one and just see how it goes!
